FAQ: Why did we decide to call it ‘Aramaic Broadcasting Network’ when we broadcast in other languages too?
Answer: The founders of ABN ministry, Dr. Bassim and Haifa Gorial, are Iraqi missionaries who have been called to serve the Aramaic community. When ABN first began, programming was produced and broadcast in only the Chaldean language.
As the need to reach other groups arose, so did the need to expand in other languages. Today, ABN broadcasts in four languages: Chaldean (a sub-sect of Aramaic), Arabic, English, and Kurdish. With only one media platform, all four languages ABN broadcasts in today are combined on one TV station. Our prayer is that the Lord will open doors for ABN to expand each of its four broadcast languages on its own media platform in the near future.
